Arsenal and Chelsea target offered new contract

Paco Alcacer set to extend stay at Valencia
Valencia are set to offer striker, Paco Alcacer, a new contract in order to fend off interest from Premier League duo, Arsenal and Chelsea.
According to reports in Portugal, the London duo want to make a £14.5million offer for the Spaniard in January as they both look to add fire-power to their attack, despite Chelsea signing three strikers in the Summer.
As for Arsenal, they are still in the market for a new striker despite landing Danny Welbeck from Manchester United on transfer deadline day, and Alcacer was one of the names on Arsene Wenger's wishlist after impressing whilst scouts were watching.
However, according to new reports, Valencia are set to offer the 21-year-old a new deal in order to fend off interest from the English clubs.
The La Liga outfit want to offer the striker a five-year deal and also insert a release clause worth around £40m so that any club who wants him would have to spend big.
Alcacer netted 16 times last season for Valencia.

Real Madrid line up Hazard as Ronaldo replacement

Madrid could try to sign the Belgian next summer, with Ronaldo potentially on the way out of the Bernabeu
In a sensational move, Eden Hazard is being lined up as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid, according to reports today. The future of the Portuguese international has recently been up in the air, with the player thought to have fallen out with club executives.
It means that the ex-Man United man could be set to quit the Bernabeu at the end of the season and it has lead to Real reportedly drawing up a list of replacements, with Eden Hazard top of that list. Any move is currently unlikely but if Ronaldo does indeed end up forcing a move away next year, then Madrid will move to sign the Belgian.
If these two deals are done, they will most certainly be mega-money moves. The Blues themselves would likely demand at least £60m for Hazard, with Jose Mourinho determined not to lose any key players. As for Ronaldo, a move would be worth even more and could break the current world-record transfer fee if he was to leave.
It was former team-mate Angel Di Maria who cast the winger's future into doubt, as he said this about the Poruguese man: "I don't know how much longer Ronaldo can put up with it at Madrid.
"I get the impression that he is not very happy."
Chelsea would more than happily sign Ronaldo and could potentially offer Hazard in some kind of swap deal, but if Ronaldo was to return to the Prem, he would much prefer a move to old club Man United. The player himself said this last week about the Red Devils: "I love Manchester. Everyone knows that. Manchester is in my heart. I left many good friends there.
"The supporters are amazing and I wish I can come back one day."
Only time will tell if Ronaldo does make a move away from Spain and whether Hazard makes the move to the Bernabeu or not.

Diego Costa admits he could have joined Liverpool

Chelsea striker has had an instant impact in England
Chelsea star Diego Costa has revealed how he came close to joining Liverpool last Summer.
The Spaniard, who joined The Blues this year after an impressive season in La Liga, has admitted in a recent interview that he came close to signing for Liverpool last year after Brendan Rodgers made an offer for him.
Rodgers, who had spent a period of time scouting the Spaniard, was left impressed with the striker's performances and lodged a formal £21million bid for the 25-year-old, but the striker wasn't keen on making the move after finally breaking into the Madrid's first-team.
The year prior to Rodgers' interest, Costa scored 10 goals in La Liga and he has admitted that interest from Liverpool came in last Summer.
He said: "I was close to leaving, Liverpool are a great team.
"But after fighting so hard and overcoming difficulties to get my place at Atletico, how could I leave?
"I thought it was very important to keep growing at the Colchoneros [Atletico Madrid], and play here for many years."
Costa has already scored four goals for Chelsea in just three Premier League appearances.

Loic Remy warns Diego Costa about starting position

French signing says he didn't join Chelsea to "sit on the bench"
Loic Remy has warned Diego Costa that he didn't join Chelsea just to be on the substitute bench, reports the London Evening Standard.
Remy recently penned a four year deal at Stamford Bridge, having signed in a £10 million deal from newly promoted side Queens Park Rangers, following a season on loan away from Loftus Road at Newcastle United, where he scored 14 goals for the Magpies last season.
The striker is yet to start for Chelsea this season, with Diego Costa in fine form for Chelsea since his £32 million summer move from Atletico Madrid, with the Spanish international scoring four goals in his first three Premier League games.
However the first shots seemed to have been fired from Remy, who stated to Costa that he does not want to just sit on the bench at the West London club.
“They are one of the best clubs in the world,” Remy is quoted in the Mirror.
“I know I won’t start out as first-choice striker at Chelsea, but nothing is set in stone. I have my aims.
“I didn’t sign for them in order to sit on the bench. I will try to improve as much as I can alongside their great players, and the rest will happen naturally.”
He added: “When the chance comes up to join a club like Chelsea you can’t say no.
“The deal was done late in the evening. I was prepared to stay at QPR, but I didn’t hesitate for a second when Chelsea came along.”

United ready to make final offer for Vidal

United hoping player + cash deal will be enough
Manchester United are ready to make one final offer for Arturo Vidal as they look to bag the midfielder before the transfer window shuts.
United have been locked in a battle with Juventus to sign the midfielder for most of the summer, with Juve insisting that the Chilean is not for sale. However, Chilean media are now claiming that United are preparing a final mega-deal in a last ditch attempt to sign him.
The offer is rumoured to be a cash sum of £42million, with striker Javier Hernandez included in the deal. The bid is set to go in shortly and United manager Louis van Gaal is hoping that it will be enough to tempt Juventus into buisness.
United are not willing to go any higher for the player, as there remains doubts over a long-standing knee problem.
If the final offer fails, Van Gaal is likely to focus on other targets but United seem hopeful that offering such a huge amount of cash, plus a player Juve are keen on, could be enough.

Chelsea end their interest in Remy

Jose Mourinho had wanted Remy to replace the injured Drogba but his interest in the Frenchman has now cooled
Chelsea have ended their interest in QPR's Loic Remy. The 28-year old has been heavily linked with a move away throughout the summer and a deal to Liverpool was nearly completed earlier on in the transfer window.
However, his move to Anfield collapsed due to a failed medical and that prompted Chelsea to enter the race to sign the striker. Reports last month claimed that Jose Mourinho wanted Remy to partner Diego Costa up front at Stamford Bridge, with Drogba now out injured.
But the Ivory Coast international has recovered much quicker than expected and it has brought an end to the Blues interest in Remy. His future at Loftus Road does still remain uncertain though. Boss Harry Redknapp wants to keep the Frenchman at the club but he is also aware that if a club in the top seven comes calling, then he is likely to move. He said:
"He didn't want to go back to Newcastle which is a massive club, so unless it's a club in the top seven I don't think he'll go. If he goes you're looking for two strikers, which isn't easy to find."

Cech seeks showdown talks with Chelsea over his future

Keeper facing Number One battle between the sticks with Courtois as host of clubs monitor situation.
Chelsea keeper Petr Cech wants reassurances from the club regarding his future, amid talk of a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Cech, who joined Chelsea in 2004, faces a fight for his jersey with Thibault Courtois this season. Courtois was in goal for the Blues opening Premier League game with Burnley on Monday.
Cech is set for a meeting in the coming days with boss Jose Mourinho, with the understanding that the club could be willing to let him go if he sees his future elsewhere.
Real Madrid, Monaco and Paris St Germain are all monitoring the situation closely, but with the transfer deadline looming, they will need to act fast.
Mourinho faces a battle to keep both of his top class keepers happy, and has stated his intentions to give them both opportunities to stake their claim in high profile games.
The Portuguese said "Obviously you cannot change a keeper if he makes a mistake, but you can change if he makes five mistakes. if the goalkeeper brings stability to the team, I see no reason to change".
Courtois has previously stated that he didn't return to Chelsea from loan at Atletico Madrid to sit on the bench?

Premier League duo tracking Carvalho

Arsenal and Chelsea keeping tabs on Portugese powerhouse
Both Arsenal and Chelsea are keeping close eyes on wanted Sporting Lisbon star William Carvalho.
The midfielder has been identified as a target by both Premier League clubs, with Manchester United also reportedly holding interest in the player.
Earlier in the summer, it was revealed that Carvalho has a release clause of £35 million, but it appears that both Arsenal and Chelsea are hoping to sign the player for £10 million pounds less.
Scouts from both clubs were sent to watch the midfielder in action over the weekend according to reports in Portugal, with Arsenal looking the more likely to sign Carvalho.
However, it was a game to forgot for the Portuguese youngster, who was sent off after 66 minutes for a second bookable offence.
The Premier league duo will be weighing up a move for the Portugese midfielder in the coming days.

Demba Ba hits out at Jose Mourinho

Former-Chelsea striker claims he was never given a chance
Former-Chelsea striker Demba Ba has criticised Jose Mourinho for not giving him a proper chance at Stamford Bridge.
Ba, who ended his dismal career in London this Summer by joining Turkish side Besiktas, has claimed that Mourinho never gave him a real chance to prove himself at the club due to not being a star-name.
Mourinho continued to play Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto'o ahead of Ba, and despite his crucial goal in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain, the Senegal international couldn't keep his place in the first-team.
Since securing his move to Besiktas, Ba has looked back at his time at Chelsea, and he has blamed Mourinho for not giving him a deserved chance.
‘Sometimes when you are at a club with a lot of big stars, the name counts for more than the statistics. Unfortunately, it was like that in my case,’ said the 29-year-old Senegal striker. ‘But I am happy I moved from Newcastle to Chelsea and achieved what I did. I have lots of friends there. Eden Hazard is one of my best friends, I am close to Branislav Ivanovic, too. All my wishes are for them to win the league.’
Ba also revealed just how close he was to joining Arsenal last Summer on loan, before Mourinho cancelled the deal due to The Gunners signing Mesut Ozil.
‘I always said the move to Arsenal was close. I thought the deal was done and I would just go and do the medical, but it went another way,’ he added. ‘Jose has said why it didn’t happen. He was honest, he just didn’t want to give them a striker who could score goals, especially with the arrival of Ozil. Now I am playing Arsenal in such a big match. It’s crazy but I’ve no regret on everything that happened.’

Moses set for Stoke switch

Winger set to arrive at Britannia Stadium on loan as Redmond move stalls
Stoke City are set to complete the signing of Chelsea winger Victor Moses on a season-long loan.
This could end Stoke's search for some natural width to add to their ranks. They had spent most of the summer chasing Oussama Assaidi of Liverpool, who spent last season at the club.
Stoke had also been interested in Norwich City's Nathan Redmond, but it now appears that they are after Moses instead.
Moses, 23, had spent last season on loan at Liverpool, and it now appears he could struggle for game time at Stamford Bridge, as he did at Anfield.
Moses has scored 10 goals in 43 games since joining Chelsea for £9M two years ago, and also went to this summer's World Cup with Nigeria.
Now, it seems he is set to go from Brazil to the Britannia
