Ross Barkley is wanted by Jose Mourinho
Chelsea are set to replace outgoing midfielder Juan Mata, who is
having a medical at Manchester United today, with Everton starlet Ross
Barkley.
The Blues have accepted a £37.5million bid for the
Spaniard from United and it is expected that the deal could be finalised
later on today with David Moyes finally making a big signing at Old
Trafford.
Despite being Chelsea's player of the year for the last
two seasons, Mata failed to gain regular first-team football under
Mourinho and that played a massive part in him choosing to move to
rivals United.
However, Mourinho and co. have thought about a
replacement for the 25-year-old already, and their attentions will be
fully focused on signing Everton midfield-maestro Ross Barkley, who has
been in superb form for The Toffees this season.
There will be no
formal bid made by Chelsea in January for Barkley, but they will look to
spend most of the money they made from Mata on the youngster in the
Summer.
