Just days after signing Benfica midfielder Nemanja Matic, Chelsea boss
Jose Mourinho is set to tie up another deal for one more of his ace
targets Kurt Zouma, reports the Daily Express. Mourinho, who had earlier
stated that Chelsea would not be busy in the transfer market, is
suddenly beginning to turn the heat on this window by strengthening his
already strong squad further.
Zouma will reportedly cost Chelsea 11 million pounds and the Blues are all set to conclude the deal this week.
Whether Chelsea will loan the 19-year old central defender back to
St-Etienne for the rest of the season is yet to be confirmed but the
signs are that Mourinho is looking to infuse the French prodigy straight
into his first team squad.
Zouma is very highly rated in
France and is also being watched by Chelsea’s rivals Man United and
Arsenal, but Mourinho looks set to tie up the deal soon.
Zouma
is seen by Mourinho as the future leader of his defence as talisman
skipper John Terry is in the twilight of his career at Stamford Bridge
and may not continue beyond next season.
A French youth
international, Zouma, has been impressive in Ligue-1 for the past couple
of seasons and has all the attributes to be a big success at the
highest level, according to experts in France. The 19-year old is also
on the verge of a national team call up soon and one could even see the
youngster be made a surprise inclusion in Didier Deschamps squad for the
World Cup in June.
