Chelsea could consider an audacious bid for Tottenham midfielder Paulinho this January if they miss out on Fredy Guarin.
The Brazilian only arrived at White Hart Lane this season, but could
already be on the way out this winter having impressed Chelsea manager
Jose Mourinho with his displays in the Premier League, according to
TuttoMercatoWeb.
Paulinho was wanted by a whole host of big clubs
during the summer, and with Tottenham in something of a crisis at the
moment following some dismal results and the sacking of manager Andre
Villas-Boas, the 25-year-old may feel it is worth moving on quickly.
Chelsea's first choice to improve their midfield remains Inter Milan's
Fredy Guarin, but Paulinho is also thought to be on his list of targets,
as well as Benfica playmaker Nemanja Matic.
Paulinho moving from
Spurs to Chelsea would have slight echoes of Willian's move to Stamford
Bridge this summer, when a deal with Tottenham looked all but complete
before a last-minute change of heart.
