Drogba talks about Chelsea, Mourinho, Champions League

As Chelsea take on Galatasaray in the Champions League knock-out rounds, a familiar face will pose the majot threat for
Jose Mourinho’s men.
Didier Drogba will lead the line for the Turkish giants and is set to face his former club for the first time since departing in the summer of 2012.
Ahead of the first leg, the Ivory Coast international has been talking about his former club and a manager he respects – Jose Mourinho.
“Six months before agreeing to join Chelsea I saw him (Mourinho) at a Porto-Marseille game,” the African told
“He slapped me behind the head and said,
“Do you have some brothers who play like you?” And I said there are a lot in Africa who are better than me.
“The year that I left for Chelsea, it was the first time that I had been playing in the Champions League and my second year in the top French league, so I was not sure if I could make it.
“Then this guy comes and says, “You have to come with me. I want to make you one of the best strikers in the

“I don’t need to give assurances to any player. A player that has a contract with Chelsea, has a contract with Chelsea,”
said Mourinho.
“We won’t struggle to keep him. He has two more years of contract.
“When you want a player and the player has two more years of contract, it is easy to say that we have no problems.
“If somebody
wants him, we have to know. It is easy for us.”
Meanwhile, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted that he will not make a move for Courtois in summer.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has harsh words for Arsene Wenger

The Chelsea boss also insisted he rather quit than go eight years without a trophy like the Arsenal boss, as their feud reignited.
“He is a specialist in failure,” said Mourinho. “I’m not.
“For my mentality there is a limit. And you have to be strong enough and proud enough to admit when it’s enough.”
The rivals’ war of words escalated yesterday after Wenger claimed Mourinho was playing down his table-topping team’s title chances as he feared failure.
“If you declare yourself not in the race, you cannot lose it. Simple as that.”
Wenger’s outburst, ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup clash with title rivals Liverpool, enraged Mourinho, whose men face Manchester City today.
A few hours later, he hit back, and said: “If supposing he’s right and I’m afraid of failure, it’s because I don’t fail many times.
“So maybe he’s right - I’m not used to failing. But the reality is he’s a specialist because, eight years without a piece of silverware, that’s failure.
“If I did that in Chelsea I’d leave and not come back.”
Mourinho said he could not say how long Russian owner Abramovich - who axed him after a poor start to the 2006-7 season - would give him to land a trophy but insisted it would not be as long as Wenger has been given at the Gunners.Wenger said: “Why are they saying they are not contenders? It is fear to fail.

If I do that at Chelsea, eight years, I leave London and I don’t come back,” he said.
“He is saying we’re claiming not to be candidates because we’re afraid of failure. Failure of what? Not winning a title this year? Or in two years?
“Failure is not winning a title in seven or eight years. That’s failure.”

Max Meyer has revealed former Tottenham Hotspur star Kevin-Prince Boateng is a role model for himself.
Arsenal and Chelsea transfer target Max Meyer has revealed that a former Tottenham Hotspur star is one of his role models.
Quoted in Bild, the 18-year-old has revealed that Kevin-Prince Boateng is one of his main idols at FC Schalke and a role model for him at the Bundesliga club.
“It’s an advantage for me – it makes it a lot of fun – he is a role model for me,” the teenager is simply quoted as saying.
There has been plenty of talk in recent days over a potential summer move from one of the big English sides for the 18-year-old attacking midfielder who has a €25.5 million buy out clause in his current contract.
The profile and the pressure that would go hand in hand with a big money transfer is something which could force him to turn to Boateng as a role model and to others he respects and admires at the German club.
Boateng has the experience of two spells in English football with Tottenham between 2007 and 2009 and Portsmouth between 2009 and 2010.
He can offer advice on the pressure, pace, aggression and strength of Premier League football while offering an insight into life in English football and the pressure that comes along with the media.
He can also offer advice on where he feels Meyer would be best suited to in England in terms of the clubs interested in him.

Meyer is a real talent and someone who has already played for Germany at three different levels of youth team football. He’s a big boy and a move away shouldn’t daunt him but his close relationship with Boateng means the former Tottenham man will more than likely get the chance to offer his advice.
Whether that works for Arsenal or Chelsea remains to be seen.
Can you see Max Meyer moving to Arsenal or Chelsea this summer?
